Handlelife Cares

Handlelife Cares Corp, a 501(c)3 nonprofit annually serving hundreds of South Florida youth from under-resourced communities.  Handlelife Cares leverages basketball as a mechanism for developing life skills, confidence and know-how. With a focus on both professional and personal growth, we create an environment that cultivates future ready skillsets and mindsets by giving youth ages 4-18 a safe place to embrace failure, teamwork, healthy eating, exercise, patience, hard work, leadership, determination, discipline, future orientation, and fun.  Our programs instill the core values of how to successfully ‘handle life’ and create social change in our underserved communities as Handlelife youth are challenged to recognize and embrace opportunity both on and off the court.

We live in a world where talent is universal, and opportunity is not -- this discrepancy is exacerbated in communities where athletic success has historically created a way out.  Basketball has entered a new era where training and development begins at a young age and at a monetary cost – thereby creating even larger hurdles for young people in our most underserved communities – the path out is now crowded and not as easy to handle. More so than ever before, we believe Handlelife Cares’ mission is a truly essential part of the solution to foster the development of critical intangible skills that will support our students on and off the basketball court and create greater equality and equity.

Over 150 kids attended the free event where they worked on basketball skill, strength and conditioning and live games. Sponsored by Scottie Barnes along with Handlelife Cares.
